Through many businesses I experienced opportunities for a turnaround process to be applied many times. However I recognised that a sustainable positive outcome required more than just one skill set; ie an accountant with a funding solution, a HR consultant or a marketer. Also I witnessed owners equity value being diminished by self interest of 3rd parties.
My role is to maintain a pragmatic overview on our client’s situation. Our team of successful business turnaround people will find a solution for committed owners. Then we will guide them to preserve and grow their business value.

Career Background
Engineering and management foundations establish over 16 years with CSR Limited, in sugar, building materials, chemical processing and corporate office.
Since 1990s have create and grown several businesses in the printing, digital media and internet online space, in Australia & NZ.
Beyond business I founded a technology incubator, worked with government to grow the IT industry and mentored numerous small & medium business owners.
Underneath, I’m an engineer, who can see technical, financial and organisational issues quickly, together with practical solutions.
Industry Experience: My experience is quite diverse; sugar, farming, materials handling, chemical, process, manufacturing, printing, packaging, IT, software, business services.
I understand the highs & lows that any business goes through. At both ends of the spectrum a robust commercial strategy can support equity and debt funding. Ensuring that the financial model stacks up and the busienss manages to it is a good foundation for success.
My contribution is primarily in supporting CEO with strong CFO, commercial and negotiation expertise.

Have worked in CFO/Finance Directory and Strategy/M&A roles as well as in programming and general management, project and change management.
I have done my corporate career as a chartered accountant, which is too remote for my hands-on commercial interest to search out and resolve problems that confront ‘financial controllers’.
My role is focussed around financial systems and analysis, sometime forensics. For me its vital a business has strong controls and robust systems that both forecast and report reliably.

Industry Experience: My career is funded in chartered accounting, serving mid size companies. Although I’ve worked with significant corporates, (British Telecom, Compaq, Apple. ) I prefer hands-on multi faceted financial and accounting roles with SMEs.
I have co founded a number of companies, and experienced the challenges of growing businesses through to successful public listing.
As an accountant I recognise that a financial crisis in a business is often a symptom of a deeper unresolved operational issue. My ability to quickly assess and find a quick solution to a financial or governance situation provides time to move into the strategic turnaround stages. Then I work more on strategic restructuring process that will support long term growth.
Working with SME businesses better suits my hands-on style where there is less emphasis on office politics and more on getting it done.

I recognise how structure impacts the ability of businesses to raise funds and what’s available for businesses in trouble.
Since 1997 I’ve had CFO / Commercial Manager roles in organisations that were undergoing change and where relationships with banks and private funders were critical.
Through the corporate roles I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to manage cash-flow, funding, financial reporting and meeting governance regulations.
Industry Experience: I’ve worked in accountancy practice, property development, building, hotel management, education and technology industries.
